Official Proxmox Partner in South Africa
Enterprise virtualisation built on open-source power. High-availability clusters, Proxmox Backup Server, Ceph storage and virtual machines, all hosted locally with full data sovereignty.
Proxmox VE combines KVM virtual machines and LXC containers in one unified platform. Enterprise-grade features: no per-core licensing fees, no vendor lock-in.
No per-core licence fees and predictable budgeting. Reduce total cost of ownership by up to 70% compared with proprietary hypervisors.
Run virtual machines and containers side by side. Live migration, high availability and flexible resource allocation without compromises.
Built-in Ceph distributed storage, automated deduplicating backups, AES-256 encryption and role-based access control as standard.
Fully open-source. Migrate freely, customise deeply and maintain full control over your environment and your data.
Manage VMs, containers, storage and backups through a clean web-based dashboard. No CLI required for day-to-day operations.
All infrastructure is hosted in Cape Town and Johannesburg. POPIA compliant and ISO-certified facilities keep your data in South Africa.
For mission-critical workloads that cannot afford downtime. A Proxmox VE cluster keeps your applications running even when individual hardware nodes fail, automatically and without manual intervention.
The ideal entry point into private cloud virtualisation. Run multiple VMs and LXC containers on a single dedicated server with the full Proxmox VE feature set, expandable into a cluster at any time.

View Server OptionsProtect your virtual machines and containers with state-of-the-art incremental-forever backups, client-side AES-256 encryption and deduplication that can cut storage requirements by up to 95%.
Ceph transforms your cluster nodes into a unified, self-healing storage pool. Scale from a few terabytes to petabytes without architectural changes, all managed directly from the Proxmox VE interface.
Run any workload on our Proxmox VE infrastructure. KVM-based virtual machines deliver full hardware virtualisation while LXC containers provide lightweight, near-native performance for Linux workloads.
Moving away from VMware, Azure or AWS? Our engineers handle the entire migration process so your workloads reach Proxmox VE with minimal disruption and zero data loss.
VMware vSphere, ESXi and Workstation environments migrate cleanly to Proxmox VE. VMDK and OVF/OVA formats are natively supported, and the Proxmox VE import wizard handles most workloads without manual disk conversion.
Repatriating workloads from public cloud to a South African private cloud reduces latency, eliminates unpredictable egress costs and keeps your data under POPIA jurisdiction. We handle the lift-and-shift or re-platform depending on your goals.
We have experience migrating from Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, XenServer, KVM-based platforms and bare-metal physical servers. If it runs workloads, we can move it to Proxmox VE.
All migrations are scoped, planned and executed by our certified Proxmox engineers. We provide a written migration plan, a rollback procedure and post-migration support as standard. Contact us to discuss your environment.

We combine official Proxmox partnership credentials with genuine local expertise and end-to-end service delivery, from hardware to ongoing support.
Hardware procurement, Proxmox deployment, ongoing management and local support, all from Rackzar. No finger-pointing between vendors.
Your data stays in South Africa. ISO-certified facilities in Cape Town and Johannesburg, fully POPIA compliant with documented data-handling practices.
Fast response from SA-based certified engineers who know Proxmox inside out. Direct contact, not a helpdesk queue routed overseas.
Choose Self-Managed for full control or Fully-Managed so our team handles patching, monitoring, HA tuning and backup verification.
Start with a single node, expand to a cluster when you're ready. Our platform is designed for growth without disruptive migrations.
All services billed in South African Rand. No exposure to USD or EUR fluctuations on your monthly infrastructure spend.
Proxmox VE is fully open-source with zero per-core licensing fees, which typically reduces total cost of ownership by 50-70% versus VMware vSphere or Hyper-V Datacenter. It natively supports both KVM virtual machines and LXC containers in one interface, includes built-in Ceph storage and Proxmox Backup Server, with no vendor lock-in so you own and control your entire stack.
A Proxmox VE high-availability cluster requires a minimum of three nodes to establish quorum, the consensus mechanism that determines cluster state and prevents split-brain scenarios. With three nodes you can tolerate a single node failure while the remaining two maintain quorum and automatically restart affected VMs. For Ceph integration, three nodes is also the minimum to achieve the default 3× replication factor.
PBS uses incremental-forever backups. After the initial full backup, only changed data blocks are sent to the server. Combined with global inline deduplication (identical blocks across all backups share a single copy) and Zstandard compression, real-world storage reduction of 70–95% is common in mixed workload environments. A VM environment that would typically require 50 TB of backup storage may only need 3–10 TB on PBS.
Both options are available. With Self-Managed, you receive full root and IPMI access to configure and operate your Proxmox VE environment exactly as you choose. Rackzar handles the physical infrastructure and connectivity. With Fully-Managed, our engineers take care of Proxmox updates, HA configuration, Ceph health monitoring, backup policy management and security hardening so your team can focus on workloads rather than infrastructure.
Our Cape Town and Johannesburg facilities are hosted in ISO-certified datacentres. All services are operated in compliance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Data never leaves South African borders, providing organisations in regulated industries with the data sovereignty and documented data-handling practices required for compliance audits.
Yes, and it's something we design for from the start. Every single-node server deployed by Rackzar uses separate OS drives, leaving NVMe storage dedicated to VM data, a prerequisite for clean Ceph integration when you add cluster nodes. Joining an additional node to an existing Proxmox VE installation is straightforward, and VMs do not need to be migrated or recreated. Your investment is fully protected as your infrastructure scales.
Absolutely. Proxmox VE uses the KVM hypervisor, which provides full hardware virtualisation; Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025 all run as first-class guests. VirtIO drivers deliver near-native disk and network performance. GPU passthrough is also supported for workloads requiring direct hardware access. Proxmox VE manages Windows VMs alongside Linux VMs and LXC containers through a single unified interface.
